Lucien Barriere is an online casino, hotel and gambling operator and also France’s official lottery organizer and operator of La Fracaise des Jeux (FDJ). The deal of the French operator with the subsidiary of the famous Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas will focus on online casinos and internet poker segment in France.
Gambling market leader Lucien Barriere combined with FDJ manage the online casino site BarrierePoker and has a wide network of over forty thousand POS in France which they use to distribute their lottery tickets and games. CIE’s mother company in the United States owns the World Series of Poker label. This is the reason why some analysts say that the joint venture will include poker tournaments, offline or at online casinos.
Caesars Entertainment followed the same recipe in Italy: the company signed a deal with Italy’s leading provider Microgame S.p.A and used the WSOP brand to join the Italian poker gaming market through online and land-based poker tournaments. WSOP is considered the most important live championship and CIE wants to make it more and more popular by expanding it internationally.
