The success of Canadian performers at the Olympic Games has influenced the decisions regarding sports excellence in the province of British Columbia. After just deciding to reduce the funds some time ago, the government now changed its mind and decided to create a new fund for sports and arts, worth around 60 million dollars.
A good part of these funds will be collected from gambling revenues and will go to organizations that support sports and youth programs. Although these funds were pretty high in 2025, they dropped significantly in the next two years.
